Computer Training Programme
Applicants for the computer course at the Nigerwives Computer Training Centre for the Blind, should please read this document carefully before proceeding with their enrolment.
Candidates must have:
(a) good typing skills - a test will be given before acceptance for the course.
(b) a good command of English, the language of instruction on the course. A minimum of “O” level education is a general prerequisite. However, those who do not have this basic requirement but have a working knowledge of English language can write to the centre for special consideration.
The training centre is non-residential. Trainees must make arrangements for their own accommodation, feeding and transportation while on the course.
The basic course consists of twenty-five 3-hour sessions which may be taken as a full time or part time course. The fee for the complete course is N10,000 and this may be paid in either one or two instalments. Fees must be paid in advance of the lessons.
Trainees must bring the following to training sessions:
(b) Writing materials: Slates and styluses are preferable; paper.
(b) Headphones: All the computers in the training room are fitted with loudspeakers. However, because several computers talking at a time can cause distraction, trainees should bring a set of headphones for each session.
Further information may be obtained from the Administrator, Mrs. Joyce Dawotola, at the NNPC Centre, Kingsway Road, Ikoyi or from the head of Training, Mr. Opeolu Akinola, at the Kings College site, Victoria Island.
