Nigerwives Enugu was founded in May 1985 and is still going strong. We have over 30 members who come from all corners of the globe.

Branch meetings are held at 4:30 pm every third Tuesday of the month, at our Nigerwives Centre, Ezelagbo House, Park Avenue , Enugu .
The executive meets the previous Monday at the same venue.
Enugu Branch President: Aranka Akunyili
Nigerwives National President: Christa Udeogu ( Enugu Member)
The big event of our year is the Annual Bazaar where we raise funds for charity. This is held in November and is looked forward to by Enugu residents, adults and children alike—a festivity not to be missed! Last year we donated over N120,000 to various charities, including:
Mile 4 Hospital, Abakaliki (where a tuberculoses ward bears our name)
Little Sisters of the Poor (old people's home in Enugu )
Anaudo Itumbauzo in Abia State (for the destitute mentally ill)
Oji River School for the Blind
School for the Deaf and Dumb, Enugu ,
CAPIO (Carmelite Prisoners Interest Organisation)
Nigerwives Braille Book Project
Daughters of Divine Love Rehabilitation Home, Enugu
The Therapeutic Day Care Centre, Enugu (a school for handicapped children run by one of our members).
Over 15 years ago we established a library for our children. This has been expanded to include books for adults and is very popular with our members. When the British Council closed its Enugu office and its library they donated over 500 books to us which we added to our library. We now have over 3,000 titles.
Other members of our families are not left out of our activities. Once a month we have a programme for our children at the library, after the Saturday morning opening. We organise a Christmas Party for our children, a disco for teenagers, and excursions or activities at Easter as well as during the August school holidays.
Our husbands formed their own group, Friends of Nigerwives, so we occasionally have parties and get-togethers with them.
Several times a year we publish a newsletter, and since the first edition in November 85 we have produced another 59 issues. This Newsletter carries new of our activities and of our members, past and present, together with recipes, poem and stories, and other articles of interest, mostly written by our members.
